Birmingham to mark first anniversary of Ozzy Osbourne's death with 'Ozzy Day'

Birmingham is set to honor the first anniversary of Ozzy Osbourne's passing with a dedicated "Ozzy Day" on July 22. Exactly one year after the Black Sabbath legend died at age 76 from cardiac arrest, the city will unite to pay tribute to the iconic musician.

Ozzy Day is a great example of how Birmingham has come together to celebrate the legendary Ozzy Osbourne. By bringing together businesses, cultural organisations and public spaces, we are creating an experience that spans the entire city centre and encourages people to celebrate the legacy of a true global icon born in Birmingham.

The day's events will feature a brass band performing surprise concerts throughout Birmingham, echoing a performance from his funeral procession last year. The Birmingham City Symphony Orchestra will also hold a special concert at the Bullring shopping center. Attendees can also take photos with "Ozzy the Bull," a mechanical bull that debuted during the 2022 Commonwealth Games.

Visitors are encouraged to explore the "Ozzy Osbourne: Working Class Hero" exhibition at the Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery and follow the "Celebrating Black Sabbath in the City" trail. Sem Watson, chair of the Central BID organization, emphasized that Ozzy Day is a prime example of Birmingham uniting to celebrate its legendary native son, creating a city-wide experience that honors his legacy.
