Bishkek resident laments drying alley on Aini Street

A Bishkek resident has voiced concerns over the deteriorating condition of a tree-lined alley, a once-vibrant green space that has begun to wither. The resident reported to 24.kg that the trees along Aini and Dzhamangbaev streets, which for years offered shade and relief from the heat, are now drying out en masse.

According to the resident, the alley, featuring oak trees situated between the roadway and a sidewalk near a school fence, was previously well-maintained by a caretaker who regularly watered them, resulting in a beautiful green area. This year, however, the trees have started to die, and the responsible caretaker appears to be gone. While an old irrigation system runs along the alley, water is no longer flowing through the channels.

The resident also noted the construction of multi-story buildings on both sides of the alley. She suspects the neglect of the green zone might be linked to the construction work or the laying of a new road. "This area has simply been abandoned," she stated, questioning the lack of oversight for the trees, the responsible services, and the reason for the irrigation system's failure.
