Bishkek's New 'Square' Lacks Shade, Faces Waste Issues

Bishkek Vice Mayor Ramiz Aliyev has presented a newly developed public space, which city authorities are calling a 'square,' through an Instagram post. The video footage reveals a paved promenade, flower beds, benches, and lampposts. However, the area conspicuously lacks trees, with no mature or young trees visible in the footage that could provide shade, leaving the entire space exposed to the sun.

Users have pointed out that such public spaces without significant greenery may offer less comfort for relaxation, especially during the summer heat. The absence of shade-generating trees is a primary concern for residents who might seek respite in the new area.

Vice Mayor Aliyev himself highlighted a different issue: residents are reportedly using the newly installed trash bins for household waste disposal. He appealed to citizens to respect the efforts of those creating a comfortable environment, emphasizing that public space bins are intended for small litter, not domestic refuse.

The city administration has not yet commented on whether additional landscaping, including tree planting, is planned for the area once construction is fully completed. The focus remains on the immediate usability and the public's adherence to proper waste disposal in the new 'square.'
