Bishkek's Weekend Agenda: Film Festival, Exhibitions, and Children's Plays

Bishkek is offering a diverse cultural program for the weekend of June 6-7, featuring a variety of performances and exhibitions. The Kyrgyz National Academic Opera and Ballet Theater will present Tchaikovsky's opera "Eugene Onegin" on June 6 at 5:00 PM.

Theatergoers can also experience "The Mottled Dog Running Along the Seashore," a ritual performance in Kyrgyz and Russian, at the Kyrgyz State Puppet Theater on June 6-7 at 6:00 PM. Additionally, the Lenin House of Culture will host the musical "Akbara," a drama about devotion and love, on June 7 at 6:00 PM.

Art enthusiasts can visit ongoing exhibitions at the Gapar Aitiev Kyrgyz National Museum of Fine Arts, showcasing painting, graphics, sculpture, and decorative arts daily except Mondays. From May 16 to June 7, the museum will also feature "Harmony of the Soul," an exhibition exploring the connection between visual art and music in Kyrgyz culture. "Gallery M" will present Halida Shimova's exhibition of large-format oil and silk paintings from May 20 to June 9.

"Artmemo" gallery will open Sanjar Nurdamirov's exhibition "Our Days" on May 31, running until June 14, which explores the feeling of living in a rapidly changing world. The weekend also includes a concert by the "Dilgir" folk dance ensemble on June 6 at 6:00 PM at the National Center for Children and Youth "Seitek."

Music lovers can attend TIKI FEST Bishkek, featuring international DJs on June 6 at 5:00 PM at the "Maple Leaf" Golf Club. The traditional "Sabantuy" festival, with folk games and contests for all ages, will take place on June 7 at 11:00 AM in Karagach Forest. The "Seitek" center will also host the "Kosh Yldyz" concert on June 7 at 6:30 PM, featuring popular Kyrgyz artists, and a "Pushkin in Music" concert.
