BIWASE Ho Chi Minh City team shows 'iron will' at Vietnam Workers' Football Tournament

Despite being eliminated early from the Vietnam Workers' Football Tournament, the BIWASE Ho Chi Minh City Trade Union team has earned admiration for their "iron will" and tenacious spirit. In their final group stage match on June 9, the team, clad in purple, faced Tây Ninh 1. Although they ultimately lost 2-4, the players demonstrated remarkable resilience, coming back from a 0-2 deficit to equalize before Tây Ninh 1 regained the lead.

The team, comprised of dedicated water industry workers, faced significant hurdles throughout the tournament. Their commitment to ensuring clean water supply for the public often conflicted with training and match schedules. In one instance, the BIWASE team played their opening match with five fewer registered players than required, as many workers had to prioritize their jobs.

Coach Trần Minh Tú acknowledged the difficulties, stating, "Due to the nature of our work, the team did not have the strongest lineup initially, missing up to five players. However, the entire team played with the highest determination." Even with a small coaching staff, including team captain Huỳnh Trung Nghĩa also serving as coach and manager due to the head of delegation's work schedule, the team's fighting spirit shone through.

Though they did not advance past the group stage, the BIWASE Ho Chi Minh City Trade Union team's performance transcended mere wins and losses. Their unwavering determination, persistent spirit, and commitment until the final whistle were celebrated as their most significant achievement in the tournament.
