BJP leader links Trump's foreign policy to India's alcohol consumption, road delays

Sujay Vikhe-Patil, a vice president of the BJP in Maharashtra, has attributed an alleged increase in alcohol consumption among some individuals to the shifting tactics and positions of former US President Donald Trump. Vikhe-Patil, a former Member of Parliament, also linked delays in the construction of the Ahilyanagar-Manmad Road in Maharashtra's Ahilyanagar district to global events, including attacks on Iran and subsequent disruptions to crude oil supplies.

Vikhe-Patil specifically criticized Trump's foreign policy, stating that his pronouncements on the war and missile attacks were inconsistent. "This man (Trump) says one thing at night, another in the morning, and something entirely different the next day," Vikhe-Patil said. "Trump sometimes claims the war is over, and immediately the next day attacks with missile. The frequently changing stand by him (Trump) are affecting those here who drink alcohol. Due to the confusion caused by Trump’s actions, the amount of alcohol consumed by certain people has increased."

The BJP leader explained that disruptions in crude oil supply chains, stemming from geopolitical events like attacks on Iran, impact the availability of bitumen, a key component in road construction. He elaborated that crude oil is refined into various petroleum products, and bitumen is a derivative. Therefore, any instability in crude oil supplies can lead to shortages of essential materials like bitumen, consequently delaying infrastructure projects such as the Ahilyanagar-Manmad Road.
