BLACKPINK marks 10th anniversary with fans at National Museum

Global K-pop sensation BLACKPINK marked their 10th debut anniversary on August 8, a milestone that solidifies their status beyond just a popular girl group to a cultural phenomenon. The quartet, comprising Jennie, Rosé, Jisoo, and Lisa, convened for a special fan event, 'Meet&Greet,' at the National Museum of Korea in Seoul. Despite members now operating under different labels for their individual careers, they coordinated schedules to fulfill their promise to fans, known as 'Blinks.' The National Museum holds significance for the group, having hosted a listening party for their mini-album 'DEADLINE' and featuring members as audio guides for exhibits. In celebration, the museum's cultural brand 'Mootz' collaborated on a 'Heritage Collection' of seven items. However, the anniversary celebration faced some criticism from the fandom. With only 40 spots available through a lottery system for the fan event, many Blinks expressed disappointment at the seemingly small scale of the commemoration for such a significant anniversary. Member Jisoo conveyed apologies through a fan community platform, stating, "I feel very apologetic on this anniversary." She added, "I wanted to always show you my best and be a source of happiness during difficult times, but it weighs heavily on my heart that many Blinks are upset." She reassured fans, "I haven't forgotten that Blinks are the ones who make BLACKPINK shine," and expressed her gratitude and love. Other members also shared heartfelt messages. Jennie posted a group photo on social media, reflecting on the strength derived from fans' unwavering support and belief. Rosé, who debuted at 19 and is now 29, thanked fans for supporting their growth and growth together. Lisa expressed deep gratitude for Blinks' presence through both joyful and challenging times over the past decade. Since their debut in 2016 with "Whistle" and "Boombayah," BLACKPINK has achieved global success, including topping both the Billboard 200 and the UK Official Albums Chart with their second album 'BORN PINK' in 2022. They were the first K-pop act to headline Coachella in 2023 and have performed at London's Wembley Stadium, cementing their status as global pop icons. While the group renewed their contract with YG Entertainment for group activities, individual endeavors are managed by their respective labels.
