Blaževičius Admits Nerves on Returning to Žalgiris Gear

Marek Blaževičius did not hide his nerves after returning to the court in Kaunas Žalgiris colors. “I won’t lie, I couldn’t even fall asleep for an afternoon nap. I was a little nervous because there were so many new things and so many rules,” he said.

The Žalgiris center said he was trying to remember everything and wanted to become part of the group as quickly as possible, both on and off the court. He described the club as operating at a higher level than his previous teams, with stricter rules and stronger players and bodies.

Blaževičius also said he had spoken often with national-team teammate Ąžuolas Tubelis about plays, internal rules and how things had changed. Žalgiris defeated Baku’s Sabah 112-78 during its preseason preparations, when Tubelis, Maodo Lo and Blaževičius joined the team after returning from national-team duty.

The Kaunas side is scheduled to play in the London Lions Invitational on September 10 and 11, alongside Paris Basketball, Wrocław’s Śląsk and London Lions.
