'Blight on the Sport': Fight Cancelled on Tszyu Card After Weigh-In Failure

Australian boxer Liam Wilson has suffered another setback as his world title eliminator bout against American opponent Stephen Fulton has been cancelled. The fight, scheduled as part of the undercard for the Tim Tszyu versus Errol Spence Jr. event, was scrapped after Fulton failed to meet the agreed-upon weight limit.

In what was described as "farcical scenes," Fulton tipped the scales at nearly 63.5kg on Saturday, significantly exceeding the super-featherweight limit of 59kg. Officials had previously raised the weight limit to 60.3kg for the bout, a change Wilson had accepted in his pursuit of another world title shot.

Wilson's manager, Glenn Jennings, who is also Tszyu's former agent, expressed strong disapproval of Fulton's actions. "This feels like a stitch-up," Jennings stated. "If you are serious and you sign a contract at 133 [pounds], there is an expectation that you will deliver. It is not only unacceptable, it is a blight on the sport. This is unprofessional, there is nowhere to go for this bloke now."

With Wilson's fight cancelled, undefeated Olympian Paulo Aokuso is set to be promoted to the main card for his light-heavyweight bout against Luis Tejeda of the Dominican Republic. This marks the second co-main event cancellation for the card this week, following Jermall Charlo's visa denial preventing his fight against Koen Mazoudier.
