Blue House National Security Office emergency meeting over North Korean ballistic missile... Urging cessation of provocation

South Korea's National Security Office convened an urgent meeting with relevant agencies, including the Ministry of National Defense and the Joint Chiefs of Staff, in response to North Korea's ballistic missile launch into the East Sea. The meeting served to assess the South Korean military's response and analyze the missile's impact on national security, with directives issued for necessary actions.

During the gathering, the National Security Office voiced concerns over North Korea's continued missile tests, noting this was the second such launch this month following the one on July 6. The office characterized the ballistic missile launch as a provocative act that violates UN Security Council resolutions and strongly urged North Korea to halt such actions immediately.

According to the Joint Chiefs of Staff, South Korean military detected the ballistic missile launched from the vicinity of Wonsan, North Korea, into the East Sea around 6 a.m. The missile is estimated to have traveled over 700 kilometers. In preparation for potential further launches, military authorities have heightened surveillance and vigilance. South Korea is also maintaining close cooperation and information sharing with the United States and Japan regarding the situation.
