Blue-White Alliance Collapses in Zhubei, Huang Kuo-chang Says Hsu Hsin-ying Broke Her Promise

The Blue-White alliance in Zhubei has broken down, but Taiwan People’s Party chairman Huang Kuo-chang said the fallout should stay in Hsinchu County and not spread to Yilan’s election campaign.

Speaking while campaigning in Yilan, Huang repeated his accusation that Hsu Hsin-ying had broken her promise. “Hsu Hsin-ying broke her promise. What does that have to do with Wu Tsung-hsien in Yilan?” he said.

Huang said he had publicly addressed the issue the previous Friday and had sent Wu a message before holding a news conference. He told Wu that he was available to help whenever needed. Huang said the two men had known each other for many years and shared both legal backgrounds and experience dealing with questions involving the justice system, fairness and social justice.

He described Wu as an outstanding candidate with experience as a prosecutor, head of the New Taipei City Legal Affairs Bureau and a legislative aide. Huang said the party’s support for Wu’s bid in Yilan remained unchanged. He also asked voters to support Lin Tsang-you, a candidate for the Yilan city and county council, and Wang Chien-ming, a candidate for the Luodong township council, as the party seeks greater representation in the Yilan County Council.
