BMA unveils new city blueprint

The Bangkok Metropolitan Administration (BMA) is rolling out a comprehensive 261-item framework designed to foster city development. This new blueprint builds upon a previous iteration, organizing city planning into four key dimensions and nine categories. These encompass crucial areas such as governance, education, communication, infrastructure, economy, and the city's populace.

Governor Chadchart Sittipunt highlighted that the plan will serve as a blueprint for city administration, addressing Bangkok's intricate urban challenges. He emphasized the need for significant expertise and experience to effectively implement policies for complex urban environments. The framework aims to reflect its mission more accurately.

Deputy Governor Tavida Kamolvej suggested restructuring the plan and revising the four dimensions to better reflect its mission. Proposals included a digital backbone for improved transparency and an outsourced city management strategy. The administration also received suggestions for a robust housing policy targeting over 1,000 communities and approximately 140,000 families, focusing on using BMA land for vulnerable groups to provide stable housing.
