BMW's Most Affordable Model Arrives: The New 1 Series Costs Nearly US$56,000

BMW's popular 1 Series has entered its fourth generation, with the latest iteration arriving in Argentina in February 2025. This new model, produced in Leipzig, Germany, aims to capture the market segment seeking premium compact cars. It boasts a refined design, including a longer hood, updated LED headlights, and a redesigned double-kidney grille with vertical and diagonal bars. A distinctive touch is the embossed '1' numeral at the C-pillar's Hofmeister kink. The dimensions have been slightly increased, with a length of 4.361 meters, while width remains 1.8 meters and height increases to 1.459 meters. The wheelbase and trunk capacity of 380 liters (expandable to 1200 liters) remain unchanged.

Inside, the 1 Series showcases high-quality materials and finishes. While front-seat space is ample, rear-seat room is somewhat limited, best suited for two adults. Visibility from the driver's seat is good, despite the relatively compact glass areas. The cabin is heavily digitized, featuring a new gear selector and a sporty, leather-wrapped steering wheel. Dominating the dashboard are two curved screens: a 10.25-inch instrument cluster and a 10.7-inch central display. This central screen supports touch and voice control, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, and runs on the BMW 9 operating system, offering ConnectedDrive services and Roadside Assistance free of charge.

The new 1 Series is equipped with 18-inch alloy wheels and 225/45 tires. The comprehensive equipment list includes a panoramic sunroof, head-up display, rearview camera, parking sensors, perforated eco-leather upholstery, electrically adjustable sport seats, wireless device charging, dual-zone automatic climate control with rear vents and voice control, and graphite aluminum trim. Safety is prioritized with six airbags, Isofix anchors for child seats, and a suite of driver assistance systems.
