PT Bank Negara Indonesia (Persero) Tbk (BNI) has issued a firm statement to distance itself from a dispute involving a cooperative's assets at its Pematang Siantar branch in North Sumatra. The bank emphasized that the cooperative operates as a completely independent entity, with no affiliation to BNI whatsoever.

This clarification comes in response to recent events, including a protest at the Pematang Siantar branch on April 24, 2026. BNI's Corporate Secretary, Okki Rushartomo, explained that the information circulating had created confusion, necessitating a clear statement to the public.
