Munich police have intensified checks on inflatable boats along the Isar River, targeting what they describe as "unbridled party behavior" and excessive alcohol consumption. Officers have noted a significant number of violations among those using the river for recreation.

During recent checks, police recorded eight instances of individuals exceeding the legal blood alcohol limit of 0.5 per mille. Further violations included a five-year-old child in a boat wearing only armbands instead of a life vest, and the presence of glass bottles, which are prohibited on the Isar under local regulations. Greiner noted that alcohol consumption during boat trips is the primary concern, with numerous boats carrying music boxes and alcohol, creating a problematic summer situation.

Authorities emphasize that the Isar is a wild river with natural hazards such as gravel banks, fallen trees, currents, and whirlpools. The Isar weir in Großhesselohe presents a particular danger, with a prohibition on boats passing over it. Despite warnings, many recreational users attempt to cross, often ending up trapped in the "water roller," requiring extensive rescue operations involving multiple emergency services and posing risks to rescuers. Police stress that adherence to rules makes the risks manageable, but alcohol significantly impairs judgment and increases the likelihood of dangerous situations.
