Boca Juniors Face São Paulo in Copa Sudamericana Quarterfinals: Date, Time and How to Watch

Boca Juniors and São Paulo will open one of the Copa Sudamericana’s most appealing quarterfinal ties next Tuesday at La Bombonera. The match will begin at 9:30 p.m. Argentina time and will be broadcast live on ESPN, with online access through Flow, DGO and Telecentro Play. The Chilean referee Piero Maza will oversee the match. Betting markets favor Boca, who carry a maximum price of 1.78 for victory, compared with 5.20 for a São Paulo win. The draw is listed at 3.40.

The two South American giants would rather be competing in the Copa Libertadores, but their results placed them in the Sudamericana, where both now rank among the title favorites. Boca reached the quarterfinals by beating Paraguay’s Recoleta 7-1 on aggregate, after defeating Chile’s O’Higgins on penalties in the previous round following a 1-1 aggregate draw.

A 2-2 draw with Gimnasia in Mendoza last Saturday prevented Boca from building further momentum in the Torneo Clausura.

São Paulo finished the group stage unbeaten in the Sudamericana, collecting 12 points from three wins and three draws. It then eliminated Bolívar 4-2 on aggregate. The Brazilian club sits 11th in the Brasileiro with 33 points, having recorded nine wins, six draws and 10 defeats. Its squad includes Argentine defender Enzo Díaz and former Boca striker Jonathan Calleri, who serves as captain.

The second leg will be played a week later at the Morumbí in São Paulo. The winner will meet either Colombia’s Independiente Santa Fe or Brazil’s Vasco da Gama in the semifinals.
