Bochum earn breakthrough win with 2-1 victory at Dresden

VfL Bochum’s first away win of the season pushed Dynamo Dresden into the bottom part of the 2. Bundesliga table.

Bochum won 2-1 in the fourth matchday’s featured game, with Koji Miyoshi scoring in the fourth and 25th minutes. The visitors took advantage of defensive errors and established a two-goal lead in front of 30,583 spectators.

Ben Bobzien gave Dresden hope before halftime, turning in a move that began when Niklas Hauptmann recovered a ball and touched it on to the scorer. But Dresden’s attacking play remained cautious, while misplaced sideways and backward passes repeatedly shifted responsibility rather than building pressure.

The match opened up after the break. Gerrit Holtmann hit the post for Bochum, while Dresden went close through Hauptmann, who struck the inside of the post after a backheel from Vincent Vermeij, and Kennedy Okpala, who missed from a promising position. Bochum’s biggest chance to settle the game came in the 65th minute, when goalkeeper Tim Schreiber made an excellent save from Miyoshi.

Dresden pressed for an equalizer, but Bochum’s defense faced limited pressure from the wings. The visitors rarely managed to relieve the pressure late in the match, yet Dresden could not convert its opportunities.
