Body found floating in Paraguay River near Asunción

A grim discovery was made Tuesday morning in Asunción's Puerto Botánico area, where a body was found floating in the Paraguay River. Local residents alerted authorities after spotting the remains near the Costanera.

Police secured the scene while awaiting the arrival of the Public Ministry and a forensic doctor. Initial assessments suggest the body had been submerged for about three days, significantly hindering identification efforts.

Despite the decomposition, investigators noted physical characteristics and clothing that could aid the investigation. The deceased has long hair and was wearing black jeans and a blue sports jacket. The body will be transferred to the Judicial Morgue for an autopsy to determine the cause of death and facilitate identification.
