Body found in Moca identified as missing young man

The search for Albert Jesús Aracena Núñez, 33, ended tragically this Tuesday with the discovery of his body buried in a wooded area in the La Chancleta community of Moca, Espaillat province. His disappearance on August 4 had left his family and friends in a state of prolonged uncertainty.

The grim discovery was made after an individual, reportedly involved in the burial, provided authorities with information about the location. The body was found in a deep hole, reportedly covered with lime, and was in an advanced state of decomposition. Relatives confirmed that the clothing found with the remains matched what Aracena Núñez was wearing when he was last seen.

Preliminary investigations indicate that Iván Arias Espinosa, the owner of the establishment where Aracena Núñez was last seen, told authorities that the young man allegedly drowned inside the business. Espinosa reportedly stated that, unsure of what to do, he decided to bury the body with the help of another person.

In response to the ongoing investigation, the Public Ministry in Moca has temporarily closed the New York Green Gallery establishment, where Aracena Núñez was last seen. This action is part of the effort to gather evidence and clarify the circumstances surrounding his death. The body has been transferred to the National Institute of Forensic Sciences for an autopsy to determine the exact cause of death. Arias Espinosa is expected to face a judge for a coercive measure hearing.
