Body of Former Indonesian Defense Minister Ryamizard Ryacudu Arrives at Funeral Home

The body of former Indonesian Defense Minister Ryamizard Ryacudu arrived at his family's funeral home in Cikeas, Bogor, on Sunday afternoon.

Ryacudu, 76, passed away at Gatot Subroto Army Central Hospital in Jakarta after undergoing treatment. His remains were transported from the hospital to the residence, where family and relatives had gathered.

During the wake, mourners recited prayers around the coffin, which was draped with the Indonesian flag, the Red and White.

Ryacudu had a long and prominent career in the Indonesian military, culminating in his appointment as Army Chief of Staff during the presidency of Megawati Soekarnoputri. He later served as Defense Minister under President Joko Widodo, who described him as a thoughtful and democratic military figure.

His father, Mayjen TNI Musanif Ryacudu, was a high-ranking officer known for his close ties to Indonesia's first president, Soekarno. Ryacudu was also the son-in-law of former Vice President Try Sutrisno.
