Body of one of two missing Portuguese tourists found in Croatian waters

Croatian rescue teams have recovered the body of one of two Portuguese tourists who went missing at sea. The pair had ventured out in a rowing boat with two other individuals on Wednesday.

The Croatian Ministry of Sea, Transport, and Infrastructure confirmed that the discovered body was handed over to the police in the coastal town of Novi Vinodolski. Earlier, the port captain of Senj had informed local media that the body had been sighted by a police helicopter near Zavrtnica bay on Krk island.

Specialized teams, who rescued two people on Tuesday, continue their search for the fourth individual. Rescuers hold out hope for finding the remaining missing person alive, citing the high sea temperatures and improving weather conditions following a storm that brought strong winds and high waves on Tuesday.

The group disappeared early Wednesday morning after setting off in a small inflatable rowing boat from the Kozica campsite. They were heading towards Senj, approximately 60 kilometers south of Rijeka port. Rescue teams first found a woman near Krk island, about 20 kilometers from the campsite, and later a man who had managed to reach some rocks on the island. Both are hospitalized in stable condition.
