Body presumed to be missing woman found in Jeju after 104 days

The body of Jang Mi-ran, who had been missing for 104 days, was discovered on a persimmon farm in Hallim-eup, Jeju Island. Her family released a statement expressing deep gratitude to all who shared their anxiety and participated in the search for her.

Jang's cousin posted on social media, thanking the police, coast guard, volunteers, and the public for their concern and efforts. The family's primary wish was to reunite with Jang. They emphasized that not all police officers are corrupt or incompetent, appealing for an end to criticism, speculation, and unrelated political commentary.

The family also requested that media refrain from contacting them for the time being and asked other family members to limit contact as well. Jang was reported missing by her boyfriend on May 15, three days after her disappearance. However, the case was reportedly closed by an investigating officer who falsely claimed Jang had been contacted and was unwilling to share her contact information.

Frustrated by the lack of progress, the family had previously filed a second missing person report and later publicly shared Jang's name and photo on social media to solicit tips. The discovery of her body occurred on August 24, approximately 400 meters from her residence.
