Bogor Regency to Expand Electric Bus Service to Depok, Puncak

Bogor Regency is set to enhance its public transportation network by expanding its electric bus services to Depok and the popular Puncak tourist region. This initiative aims to bolster both public transit and the local tourism sector.

Following a successful trial on the Bojonggede-Sentul corridor, the local government is preparing several new routes. These include connections linking Cibinong to the Bogor Botanical Gardens and Pakansari Stadium to Margo City in Depok. Additionally, a route is planned from Pakansari Stadium towards Puncak, extending to the border with Cianjur Regency. These routes are designed to offer eco-friendly transportation alternatives to tourist destinations and expand the reach of green public transport in the wider Bogor area.

The regency is also considering regular service additions, such as a route from Bojonggede to the Citeureup Toll Exit. Discussions are underway with the West Java Provincial Transportation Agency, with a focus on integrating these new services without negatively impacting existing transportation businesses. Bupati Bogor Rudy Susmanto emphasized the need for communication with current transport operators to ensure economic stability while introducing new services.

We want the economy to keep moving and new breakthroughs not to disrupt existing businesses.

To manage costs, Bogor Regency plans to partner with private entities for the acquisition and operation of the electric buses. The local government would provide essential infrastructure like parking spaces, charging stations, and human resources, while private partners would cover other needs. This collaborative approach aims to develop the electric bus service without straining the regional budget. The final operational plans and network expansion will be determined after evaluating the results of the Bojonggede-Sentul trial.
