Bokkos Attack: Police Assure Plateau Governor Perpetrators Will Face Justice

The Inspector-General of Police has assured Plateau State Governor Caleb Mutfwang that security agencies are actively pursuing those responsible for the recent attack in the Mushere District of Bokkos Local Government Area. The Assistant Inspector-General of Police (AIG), Zone 4, Morris Dankwambo, conveyed this commitment during a visit to the governor, acting on the IGP's directive for an immediate assessment of the situation.

The act perpetrated by these criminals is barbaric, wicked and completely unlawful.

Dankwambo condemned the attack as a "grievous assault on humanity," describing the perpetrators' actions as "barbaric, wicked and completely unlawful." He stated that security agencies have reviewed their operational plans, identified vulnerabilities, and reinforced deployments to better protect communities. "Our tactical teams and operational units are fully committed and are already taking decisive steps to restore public confidence, maintain peace and bring the perpetrators of this heinous crime to justice," he added.

Governor Mutfwang acknowledged the police visit as a sign of solidarity and the federal government's commitment to peace in Plateau State. He noted the state's investments in security for the Mushere axis, including military and police presence, but stressed the need for continuous adaptation of security strategies. "We cannot continue to do the same things and expect different results. We must constantly review our approaches, reassess our strategies and adapt to emerging security realities," Mutfwang stated.

The governor also revealed that an emergency meeting of security agency heads was convened post-incident to reassess the security architecture and develop new operational responses. He emphasized the critical role of intelligence gathering in combating insecurity and clarified that no state of emergency has been declared in any local government area following the attack. The police confirmed they are in "hot pursuit" of the perpetrators.
