Bolívar loses captain Justiniano for entire São Paulo series due to CONMEBOL suspension

Bolívar will be without their captain, Leonel Justiniano, for their upcoming Copa Sudamericana round of 16 series against São Paulo. The CONMEBOL Disciplinary Commission has handed down a two-match suspension to the midfielder, ruling him out of both crucial encounters.

In addition to the sporting ban, Justiniano has been fined $4,000 USD. This financial penalty, levied under Article 14.6 of CONMEBOL's Disciplinary Code, will be automatically deducted from Bolívar's television rights or sponsorship revenue.

The suspension stems from a red card Justiniano received on July 30 during Bolívar's playoff match against Grêmio in the Copa Sudamericana. While an automatic one-match ban was imposed following the expulsion, the disciplinary commission has now confirmed the additional game, ensuring he misses the entire tie against São Paulo.

Justiniano's absence is a significant blow for Bolívar, coached by Alejandro Restrepo. The team will have to navigate this high-stakes international series without one of its key players and its designated captain. Ervin Vaca is expected to step into Justiniano's midfield role, tasked with filling a vital position during the demanding matches against the Brazilian club.
