Bolívar regain Robson Matheus and Patricio Rodríguez for trip to Independiente

Robson Matheus and Patricio Rodríguez have recovered from their respective injuries and are back in contention for Bolívar’s visit to Independiente in Sucre on Sunday.

The two players have trained with the rest of the squad this week and are expected to be included in the matchday group. Their starting places remain uncertain, with Friday and Saturday sessions still to come before coach Alejandro Restrepo selects the team.

Bolívar said on August 24 that Matheus had suffered a contracture in his left hamstring. Rodríguez had sustained a contusion to the calcaneus, the largest bone in the foot and the one that forms the heel. They consequently missed matches against ABB in the Liga, and The Strongest and GV San José in the Copa Bolivia.

Erwin Saavedra is still not fit after suffering a muscular problem in the clásico against The Strongest. The club has not given a recovery timetable, but he is unlikely to travel to Sucre.

Bolívar sit top of the Liga standings with 36 points, level with Always Ready. Their higher number of victories gives them the advantage in the table’s ranking criteria.
