Bolivia requests serious investigation into attack involving Milei advisor's ex-partner

Bolivia's government has called for a "serious and profound" investigation following an armed attack on the ex-partner of Fernando Cerimedo, an advisor to Argentine President Javier Milei. Cerimedo was arrested at an airport in Santa Cruz as authorities investigate his alleged participation in the assault on lawyer and activist Nadia Beller.

Bolivian Minister of Government Marco Antonio Oviedo expressed solidarity with Beller and stated that instructions were given to the Santa Cruz Police to act immediately upon learning of Cerimedo's alleged involvement. "Currently, Mr. Cerimedo is at the disposal of the competent authorities, and the investigation is under the purview of the Public Ministry. In Bolivia, no one is above the law, and we ask for a serious and profound investigation of this matter," Oviedo said.

Cerimedo was apprehended by agents at Viru Viru airport upon his arrival from La Paz. According to regional police commander Colonel David Gómez, police were aware of a "sentimental problem" between Cerimedo and Beller in the days prior. The Argentine national is reportedly being held at the Special Force to Combat Crime (Felcc) pending an informative statement in the presence of a prosecutor and his lawyer.

Fernando Cerimedo is the founder and director of the digital media outlet 'La Derecha Diario,' identifies as a global right-wing militant, and is known for his public disputes with journalists and left-wing supporters. He also runs a marketing company with offices across Latin America and an academy offering courses on digital and political marketing. Nadia Beller, the victim, is a lawyer, activist, and political analyst with ties to both Bolivian left-wing and right-wing groups. She was attacked by two unknown individuals outside a hotel in Santa Cruz.
