Bolivian Governor Seen in Vehicle Reported Stolen in Chile, Lawmaker Cries 'Unacceptable'

A Bolivian governor has reportedly been seen in a vehicle that is subject to a theft report in Chile, sparking outrage and diplomatic calls for action. The incident involves Governor Santos Quispe of the Mariscal Nieto region.

Chilean lawmaker Sebastián Videla, representing the Antofagasta region, denounced the situation as "unacceptable." He has formally requested the Chilean Foreign Ministry to address the matter urgently. Videla is currently in Bolivia for meetings aimed at tackling the flow of stolen vehicles from Chile into Bolivian territory.

During his visit, Videla reported the case involving Quispe, who was allegedly seen in a vehicle with a "charge for theft" in Chile. The lawmaker emphasized the need for immediate attention to this cross-border issue, which he believes undermines efforts to combat vehicle theft rings operating between the two nations.

The report has intensified concerns in Chile about the increasing number of vehicles stolen and subsequently trafficked to neighboring countries, particularly Bolivia. Videla's mission aims to foster greater cooperation between Chilean and Bolivian authorities to curb this illicit trade.
