Bontang Mayor Secures Health for Residents via CSR Funding

Bontang Mayor Neni Moerniaeni is actively ensuring the health security of her city's residents through a comprehensive free health insurance program. This initiative has been a top priority since she took office, aiming to provide accessible healthcare for all citizens.

To maintain the program's sustainability amidst regional fiscal limitations, the Bontang city government is collaborating with the local legislative council to leverage private companies' Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funds. This approach seeks to create a stable financial foundation for healthcare services.

Recently, the city hosted a socialization event for the Sharing Contribution Scheme (SSI) for workers not receiving government wages. This innovative financing model involves collaboration with the business sector. Mayor Moerniaeni stated that this scheme is an innovative solution to keep the population healthy, ensure excellent medical services, and maintain the region's fiscal stability.

The 'gotong royong' or mutual cooperation scheme is designed to prevent the burden of public health financing from falling entirely on the Regional Revenue and Expenditure Budget (APBD). The event saw participation from various stakeholders, including the Head of the East Kalimantan Provincial BPJS Kesehatan, emphasizing a cross-sectoral synergy to support Bontang's Universal Health Coverage (UHC) status.
