Book on Japanese Philosophy 'Ikigai' Declared Cultural Interest in Buenos Aires

The Buenos Aires Legislature has recognized Fer Niizawa's book, "Ikigai: Japanese Happiness and Wisdom to Transform Your Life," declaring it a cultural interest. Niizawa, director of Nawaiam, an international speaker, and a TEDx speaker, received the distinction in the Golden Hall of the Legislature.

The project, championed by legislator Sebastián Nagata, acknowledges the book's significant value in bridging Japanese and Argentine cultures. Niizawa expressed his gratitude, viewing the honor as a recognition of a life philosophy that encourages living with purpose, building well-being, and finding meaning in daily activities. The event featured live performances by the Taiko Ryukyukoku Matsuri Daiko group and singers Lorena Hokama and Ayumi Kondo.

Published in 2024 by Lea Ediciones, "Ikigai" guides readers toward a balanced life aligned with their vital purpose. The term "Ikigai" combines the Japanese words "iki" (life) and "gai" (value or worth), signifying what gives life meaning and purpose. Niizawa explains that finding one's Ikigai involves discovering the intersection of what one loves, what one is good at, what the world needs, and what one can be rewarded for. This philosophy emphasizes self-awareness, listening to one's heart, and appreciating life's small moments.

By 2025, "Ikigai" had achieved bestseller status, reaching more than fifty thousand readers. Niizawa's extensive business background, including executive roles in multinational corporations across various sectors, complements his long-standing career in delivering conferences for business leaders.
