Borno Praises Troops as Zulum Leads Refugee Resettlement in Liberated Communities

Borno Governor Babagana Umara Zulum has linked the return of displaced people to the military’s ability to hold liberated communities. During a working visit to Mallam-Fatori and the headquarters of the Joint Task Force North-East, Operation Hadin Kai, he praised troops for their courage, resilience and sustained commitment to security.

Zulum’s visit included 68 Battalion, the Nigerian Army unit based in Mallam-Fatori, the headquarters of Abadam Local Government Area. He met the commanding officer, Lieutenant Colonel Daniel Chiwar, along with senior officers and troops deployed to the border community.

At the Joint Task Force headquarters, the governor and the Theatre Commander reviewed the security situation in the Mallam-Fatori axis. They also discussed Operation Hadin Kai’s efforts to consolidate military gains, secure liberated communities and preserve the conditions needed for displaced populations to return.

The Borno government said it would continue providing essential support to improve the troops’ operational effectiveness. It is also working to accelerate the resettlement of more liberated communities and facilitate the safe and dignified return of refugees from neighboring countries. Those efforts are intended to restore essential services, rebuild communities and support reintegration.

Operation Hadin Kai welcomed the state’s partnership and reaffirmed its commitment to coordinated operations. The command said it would continue working to protect communities, secure critical infrastructure and support the return of displaced people across the theatre.
