Borussia Dortmund Sign Arsenal Midfielder Ethan Nwaneri on Season-Long Loan

Borussia Dortmund have moved quickly to add Arsenal’s young midfielder Ethan Nwaneri, completing a season-long loan before the summer transfer window closed. The England player will remain in Germany through June 30, 2027, and is expected to strengthen Dortmund’s squad for the Bundesliga season and other competitions.

Dortmund sporting director Lars Ricken said the club needed to reinforce its squad at short notice. “It was important for us to be able to strengthen the squad in a short time. For us, signing Ethan was the best solution from a sporting perspective. We are pleased to have completed the deal just before the transfer window closed,” Ricken said.

Nwaneri is also being lined up to help fill the gap left by Giannis Konstantelias, who faces a lengthy absence because of injury. Dortmund regard the teenager as a player with considerable talent and the abilities the team needs.

Nwaneri joined Arsenal’s academy at eight and made his senior debut in September 2022, aged 15. That appearance made him the youngest player to feature in England’s top division. He later made 51 appearances for Arsenal in all competitions, scoring 10 goals and providing two assists in 1,907 minutes.
