Bosnian teen on trial in Zagreb for murder amid alleged assassination plot

A trial has begun in Zagreb for an 18-year-old Bosnian citizen accused of murdering a 22-year-old, also from Bosnia and Herzegovina. The proceedings are being held under the Juvenile Justice Act, meaning the trial is closed to the public. The accused has pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Authorities allege that the 18-year-old shot the 22-year-old three times on April 12th. The victim's body was discovered in a house in the Šestina area of Zagreb, which had reportedly been rented by both individuals. The accused was arrested shortly after the incident, found wandering in a distressed state near the scene.

During the investigation, police uncovered a more complex plot. It is believed that both the accused and the victim had traveled to Zagreb with the intention of carrying out assassinations. However, the planned hits reportedly failed because the targets did not appear as expected. Subsequently, a confrontation occurred between the two young men, resulting in the fatal shooting of the 22-year-old.

Another individual, Dino Konjević, has also been detained on suspicion of participating in the preparation of criminal offenses, allegedly facilitating the arrival of the two youths from Bosnia to carry out the planned killings. The court is expected to conduct a reconstruction of the crime scene next month, with the participation of forensic experts, to further clarify the events of that night.
