Bouira Collects Sheepskins During Eid al-Adha

The public utility Nadhif Bouira has initiated a large-scale waste collection drive across the Bouira region during the Eid al-Adha holiday. Beyond maintaining urban cleanliness, sanitation workers are actively recovering hundreds, potentially thousands, of sheepskins sacrificed during the festival.

This effort aligns with a national initiative to develop and add value to the leather sector. The operation is being conducted in coordination with municipal services. Prior awareness campaigns, in collaboration with the Bouira environment directorate and environmental center, educated the public on the value of sheepskins and wool. Instructions were disseminated on appropriate methods for storing skins to prevent degradation, especially given the rising temperatures.

To facilitate the collection, designated drop-off points have been established for citizens. This ensures that the recovered skins can be efficiently gathered by sanitation agents, contributing to both environmental preservation and the national leather industry.
