Bovaglio Prepares O'Higgins for Aggressive Approach Against Boca Juniors in Copa Sudamericana

Lucas Bovaglio, the coach of O'Higgins, is gearing up for the Copa Sudamericana playoff second leg against Boca Juniors with a clear strategy: no passive play. "It's not a match to go out and see what happens," Bovaglio stated emphatically in a press conference, signaling his team's intent to be aggressive and proactive.

The Argentine coach acknowledged that the team has "a couple of doubts" but expressed confidence in their energy and desire to overcome any physical shortcomings. "The group is well, there is a nice energy when training," he said. Bovaglio stressed the importance of controlling the game and putting pressure on Boca. "We are going to go out to seek the match, try to be protagonists, bother Boca, pressure them. We will have to make the effort. Hopefully, we will have the necessary clarity," he added.

Reflecting on the first leg, Bovaglio highlighted the need to avoid the "fatal minute" that led to Boca's goal. He pointed out that O'Higgins retreated too much after losing possession and failed to challenge the player who scored. "We have to repeat the stance, play as equals, value the ball when we have it," he urged.

Bovaglio also addressed the appointment of referee Wilmar Roldán, who has officiated in two Copa Libertadores finals where Boca Juniors suffered defeats. Despite Boca's reported history with the Colombian referee, Bovaglio expressed trust in his abilities. "He is a referee who inspires confidence, lets play, allows the game to flow with any contact. I know that in Boca they have expressed themselves about having a negative history with him, but it does not generate fear or distrust in me. I do not doubt his honorability or his capacity," Bovaglio commented.
