Boy on an Electric Scooter Shoots Out in Front of Car in Bukovac, Then Laughs at Driver

A Zagreb driver says she narrowly avoided hitting a boy who shot out in front of her car on an electric scooter in Bukovac, then laughed when she told him how dangerous the encounter had been.\n\nShe described the incident in a Facebook group for Bukovac residents. At about 9:20 p.m. on Sept. 3, she was driving east near a medical clinic and turning toward a pharmacy when two boys appeared, one on a bicycle and the other on an electric scooter. The scooter rider, whom she estimated to be 12 to 14 years old, came at very high speed from the direction of a sports hall toward Požarinje and directly into the path of her car.\n\nThe driver said she reacted in time. After the near collision, she opened her window and told the boys they needed to pay attention to traffic because they could have been seriously hurt. She said the boy on the scooter laughed in her face, while the other boy responded by calling her an insult.\n\n“Almost the worst-case scenario happened right before my eyes,” she wrote, urging parents to speak with their children about traffic behavior and basic manners. Other Zagreb residents shared similar complaints, saying children ride side by side on roads at considerable speed, with lights that are difficult to see and no clear indication of when they will turn or brake. One resident warned that some powerful scooters can reach 80 kilometers per hour and that as many as three children sometimes ride on one scooter. “Traffic is not a game!” the driver wrote.
