Boy Swept Away by Wave in China's Zhejiang Province While Watching Storm

A family's decision to watch waves despite typhoon warnings led to a tragic incident in China's Zhejiang province, where a 9-year-old boy was swept out to sea and remains missing. The event occurred in Shitou Town, Wenling City, as Typhoon Haikui approaches the region.

Reports indicate that the family of four disregarded safety barriers and entered a hazardous area near the sea wall to observe the surging waves. While crossing the sea wall, a sudden, powerful wave knocked them down. When the water receded, three family members were able to get up, but the young boy had been carried away by the powerful surge.

Onlookers urged the family to return to safety as the adults desperately called out for the missing child. Local authorities confirmed the incident and stated that search and rescue operations for the boy are ongoing. The typhoon is expected to make landfall between Zhejiang and Fujian provinces.
