Brake Failure Causes Multi-Vehicle Crash at Chiapas Toll Booth, Six Injured

Six people, including four adults and two children, sustained injuries after a trailer truck experienced brake failure and collided with other vehicles at a toll booth. The incident occurred on Sunday afternoon on the Arriaga-Ocozocoutla highway in Chiapas, Mexico, as vehicles waited to pass through the Arriaga toll station.

The trailer, identified with economic number 44 and belonging to a cargo transport company, reportedly lost its brakes just as it approached the toll plaza. The impact struck a vehicle and a motorcycle, causing injuries to the six individuals. Emergency services, including municipal Civil Protection paramedics, responded to the scene.

The injured parties were transported to the General Juárez Hospital in Arriaga for treatment. The identity of the six injured individuals and their places of origin remain unknown at this time. The driver of the trailer managed to stabilize the vehicle in the roadside ditch and apparently fled the scene following the collision.

Police officers arrived at the accident site to assist in extricating the injured from the damaged vehicles. The exact circumstances leading to the brake failure and the subsequent investigation into the incident are ongoing.
