Brave Australian Croat Continues Inspiring Battle Against Cancer

Suzana Klišanin, an Australian Croat originally from Livno, is a testament to resilience, continuing her travels and support for the Croatian national football team despite a long and arduous battle with cancer. Diagnosed with uterine cancer in late 2015, Klišanin has undergone multiple surgeries and chemotherapy, yet her spirit remains undimmed.

Even as she prepared for a trip to the United States, Klišanin received news of a new tumor. A surgery on June 3 successfully removed a benign growth, and subsequent tests have been negative, though further checks are required upon her return. This latest health scare follows a severe operation in June 2021 that resulted in the removal of her spleen and part of her pancreas, leaving her reliant on medication.

Despite these significant health challenges, Klišanin's determination to live life to the fullest is palpable. She humorously dismisses doctors' advice to rest, stating, "Doctors told me it's better to stay home, but I don't listen to them much. What would I do at home? I get bored, it hurts more when I'm not traveling the world!" Her positive outlook and infectious smile, even when discussing her health, are remarkable.

Her journey first came to public attention during the 2018 World Cup in Moscow, where she shared her story with a journalist. At the time, she expressed her unwavering optimism, reassuring her family, "Don't worry, I'm not ready to die yet! I'll be here with you for a long time!" Her strength and positivity have been a constant throughout her fight, even earning her a visit with the Croatian national team players in Moscow.

Now, eight years after their last meeting, Klišanin's vibrant energy and infectious smile are as strong as ever. Her partner, Marko Vuković, also shared insights into her ongoing health battles, highlighting the severity of her past surgeries.
