Braves manager praises Acuña Jr.: 'Probably the best arm in the outfield'

Atlanta Braves manager Walt Weiss has lauded outfielder Ronald Acuña Jr.'s defensive prowess, calling his arm "probably the best in the outfield." Weiss's comments came after a remarkable play made by Acuña Jr. during a recent game against the Milwaukee Brewers.

In the game, Acuña Jr. cut off a hit by rookie Luis Lara in right field before it reached the wall. He then executed a quick turn and unleashed a throw clocked at 92.3 miles per hour, according to MLB.com, directly to catcher Mauricio Dubón. This precise throw successfully retired Lara as he attempted to stretch his hit into a double.

"We've seen him do it multiple times," Weiss stated, as reported by the official MLB website. "It's not just the strength, but the accuracy. It's a phenomenal throw." The manager expressed no surprise at Lara's decision to attempt for second base, noting, "99 out of 100 times, that's a double."

Despite being thrown out, Lara himself acknowledged Acuña Jr.'s skill, admitting, "At the moment, the adrenaline of the game is at its peak, and the truth is, all I try to do is find a way to get to second base. But afterward, it was incredible. Without a doubt, he is my favorite player."

Acuña Jr.'s impact since his Major League debut in 2018 has been significant. Now, eight years later, the La Sabana native is not only a recognized star in North American baseball but also a direct inspiration for the emerging generation of players.
