Brazil Court Allows Ex-President Bolsonaro Dental Visit, Denies Private Clinic Request

Supreme Court Justice Alexandre de Moraes has granted former President Jair Bolsonaro permission to see a dentist, but rejected a request for the appointment to take place at the clinic owned by the wife of Senator Flávio Bolsonaro.

Moraes stipulated that the dental care must occur at the Military Police of the Federal District's Medical Center for security reasons. The date and time of the appointment are to remain confidential for the same security concerns. The decision does not specify if Fernanda Bolsonaro can attend him at the Medical Center, only that her private clinic in Brasília's upscale Lago Sul neighborhood is off-limits.

According to Moraes, the exact timing will be coordinated between Bolsonaro's defense team and Lieutenant Colonel Allenson Nascimento Lopes, deputy director of the MP-DF's custody unit, as there is no urgent need for the procedure. Bolsonaro is currently serving a humanitarian house arrest sentence of 27 years and three months for leading an alleged coup attempt in the country.
