Brazil Police Arrest One in Operation Targeting Firearm Registration Fraud

The Federal Police have arrested an individual in Belo Horizonte in connection with illegal firearm possession and cigarette smuggling as part of Operation Guardiões de Fogo. The operation specifically aimed to combat the fraudulent acquisition of firearms through the registration process for Collectors, Sports Shooters, and Hunters (CACs).

Investigations revealed that the suspect allegedly used improper documentation to bypass legal requirements for obtaining and maintaining firearms. In addition to the arrest, authorities confiscated two firearms, 130 rounds of ammunition, approximately 100 packs of cigarettes, and 38 illegal TV signal reception devices. The police also seized 48 checks during the operation.

The operation underscores ongoing efforts to regulate firearm ownership and prevent illicit activities associated with the CAC registration system.
