Brazilian Organized Crime Fugitives Arrested in Paraguay

Paraguayan police have arrested five Brazilian nationals allegedly linked to organized crime in simultaneous raids in La Paloma, Canindeyú department. The operation, dubbed "Operativo Espejismo," also resulted in the seizure of firearms and stolen vehicles.

Two of the arrested individuals have been identified as Douglas Fernando de Jesús Hartkoff, wanted for intentional homicide, and Luiz Gustavo Alves, sought for drug trafficking. The other detainees are Cleverson Gonçalves, Maikon Lucas Ramos Lima, and Tayla Gomes de Campos.

Investigators discovered a cache of firearms and ammunition, along with high-end vehicles reported stolen in Brazil, during the searches of the properties. The operation was conducted under the direction of the Public Ministry, in coordination with Brazilian authorities, to locate fugitives and recover assets tied to transnational crimes.

This joint effort underscores the ongoing cooperation between Paraguay and Brazil in combating cross-border organized crime and bringing wanted individuals to justice.
