Brečko responds to Olimpija: 'They aren't interested in progress, it won't work with them'

Mišo Brečko, the recently dismissed coach of Olimpija, has voiced his disappointment with the club's management, asserting that he was not afforded a genuine opportunity to demonstrate his capabilities. Brečko specifically targeted the sporting director, Necat Aygün, whom he holds largely responsible for his departure.

Brečko criticized the club's leadership, including Adam Delius, Igor Barišić, and the new sporting director, arguing they are not acting in Olimpija's best interest. He acknowledged that the team did not play perfect matches and that luck was not always on their side, but insisted that football results can turn around quickly. He felt two games were insufficient for any realistic assessment of the coaching staff's work, making it difficult to consider it a serious opportunity.

The former national team player also indicated that he had long suspected that a long-term collaboration with certain individuals in the management was not feasible. "It doesn't seem like they are interested in progress, neither in the youth academy nor in the club's organization," Brečko stated. He mentioned bringing up issues that needed changing, which may not have been well-received. He also noted a lack of presence from the management, both in the media and in the club's operational aspects.

Despite his frustrations, Brečko expressed that he would still choose to join Olimpija again for the sake of the people within the club who work with passion, the players, and the club's name. He wished the club good luck for the remainder of the season as he departed.
