Brighton sign Algeria defender Hadjam on deal until 2031

Brighton & Hove Albion has secured the signing of Algerian defender Jaouen Hadjam from Swiss champions Young Boys. The Premier League club announced the transfer on Tuesday, with the player agreeing to a contract that runs until 2031.

Hadjam, a 23-year-old Paris-born left back, brings international experience to Brighton. He represented France at various youth levels before making the decision to switch his international allegiance to Algeria in 2023. He has since earned 21 caps for his country and participated in the recent World Cup.

The defender joins Brighton after a successful spell with Young Boys, where he made 98 appearances across all competitions. He initially moved to the Swiss side in 2024 from French Ligue 1 club Nantes and was part of Paris Saint-Germain's youth academy earlier in his career.

Brighton has had a strong start to their league campaign, highlighted by an impressive 4-0 victory over Europa League holders Aston Villa on Sunday.
