Brighton signs AIK winger Yohanna in potential Nordic record deal

Premier League club Brighton & Hove Albion has secured the signing of promising 18-year-old winger Zadok Yohanna from Swedish side AIK. The transfer, reported by Swedish media to be worth 25 million euros (approximately 185 million Danish kroner), is being hailed as a potential record for a Nordic transfer.

According to Expressen, the fee surpasses the amount Tottenham Hotspur paid for Lucas Bergvall earlier this year. While AIK has not disclosed the exact figure, the club indicated the deal falls within a classification band for net results between 130 and 170 million Swedish kroner, a new tier for their player transactions. This net result accounts for sale revenue minus agent fees, selling costs, payments to previous clubs, and the player's book value.

Yohanna arrived at AIK in the summer of 2025 from a Nigerian football academy, initially joining the club's U19 team. His performances quickly caught the eye, leading to his debut in the Swedish league shortly after his arrival. He has since played 18 matches for AIK, scoring five goals and providing four assists.

Brighton manager Fabian Hurzeler acknowledged that Yohanna will need time to adapt to the club and the Premier League. "But he is an exciting player, and he possesses the creativity that we know our fans will appreciate," Hurzeler stated. Yohanna has committed his future to Brighton by signing a contract that runs until the summer of 2031.
