Brnabić: We will finish the debate on the government tomorrow, until someone faints

Serbian Parliament Speaker Ana Brnabić announced that the vote of no confidence in the government, initiated by the opposition, will conclude on Wednesday. She stated the session would continue until it is finished, even if it requires working late into the night, emphasizing, "we will finish tomorrow or the day after tomorrow, until someone falls unconscious."

Tomorrow (the vote) will certainly happen – however it goes. I expect them (the opposition) to respect the agreements we made, and even if they are not respected, we will finish tomorrow, if we have to work until 11, 12 at night, maybe the day after tomorrow, but we will not interrupt work, maybe at two in the morning, but we will finish tomorrow or the day after tomorrow, until someone falls unconscious.

Brnabić described the ongoing session as the most challenging of her tenure as Speaker of the National Assembly. She found it mentally and emotionally taxing, contrasting it with previous sessions where opposition members resorted to throwing smoke bombs and using pepper spray. "This is mentally and emotionally difficult," she stated.

This is without any doubt, since I became president of the National Assembly, the most difficult session for me, it seems easier to me when they (the opposition) were throwing smoke bombs at us, spraying tear gas and pepper spray, because this is mentally and emotionally difficult.

The Speaker accused the opposition of misleading the public with contradictory narratives. She pointed out their claims of people living in terrible conditions in Serbia, followed by statements that all citizens are currently on vacation. The extraordinary session, which began Monday, is dedicated to debating the opposition's motion to dismiss the government. The first day featured a four-hour speech by Miroslav Aleksić of the People's Movement of Serbia, representing the motion's proponents. Earlier, Interior Minister Ivica Dačić played a sound he claimed was from a real sound cannon during the session.
