Broken wrist sidelines Danish handball star Scaglione for months

Danish handball player Julie Scaglione faces a lengthy spell on the sidelines after breaking her wrist. The injury will keep the Ikast Håndbold star out of action for at least two to three months, according to club director Daniel Grønhøj.

Scaglione sustained the injury during a training match against Silkeborg-Voel on Friday. She fell awkwardly on her back, with an opposing player collapsing onto her hand, trapping her wrist. Initial examinations confirmed a fracture, with a further scan scheduled later in the week to determine the full extent of the damage.

We don't know yet how long she will be out, as she first needs a second scan later this week, but it is a minimum of two to three months.

"It's our top scorer who has now been injured, so it's a big blow for the club that we now have to do without Scaglione in the coming months," Grønhøj told TV 2 Sport. Scaglione was the league's leading scorer last season, netting an impressive 225 goals in 37 matches. Her absence is a significant setback for Ikast Håndbold, who rely heavily on her offensive prowess.

The 21-year-old left back is also a key player for the Danish national team. Her injury casts doubt on her availability for the European Championship, scheduled for December across multiple European countries. If fit, she would have been a strong contender for a place in Denmark's squad.
