Brother of notorious 'Samura' arrested with over 21 kilos of cocaine in Paraguay

Anti-drug agents in Pedro Juan Caballero, Paraguay, apprehended three men on July 22, 2026, seizing more than 21 kilograms of cocaine paste. Among the detainees was Rubén Darío Vargas Gómez, 22, Marcos David Colmán Rojas, 29, and Jorge Fernando Denis González, known as "Chefinho." Police sources identified "Chefinho" as the maternal half-brother of Jorge Teófilo Samudio González, alias "Samura." "Samura" is reportedly a member of the Brazilian criminal group Comando Vermelho and was previously imprisoned in Paraguay. His armed escape in 2019 resulted in the death of a high-ranking police official.

During the operation, authorities also confiscated a Volkswagen Gol, registered to Cristhian Vidal Ríos, and seven mobile phones. The operation was led by Amambay anti-drug prosecutor Celso Morales. Police sources indicated that "Chefinho" was the primary target, believed to be the leader of a drug trafficking ring active on the border between Paraguay and Brazil. The investigation is ongoing, with authorities exploring potential connections between "Chefinho" and the Comando Vermelho, a theory supported by "Samura's" criminal history.
