Bruno Fernandes named Premier League’s player of the season

Manchester United captain Bruno Fernandes has earned the prestigious Premier League Player of the Season award for the 2025-26 campaign. This marks the first time the Portuguese midfielder has received this honor since joining the Red Devils in January 2020.

The League lauded Fernandes for his "sensational form," highlighting his role as the "driving force" behind Manchester United's successful season. The team secured third place and a UEFA Champions League qualification spot, a significant improvement from their 15th-place finish last season. Fernandes has directly contributed to 28 goals this season, with eight goals and a remarkable 20 assists.

Fernandes is now on the verge of setting a new Premier League record for assists in a single season. With 20 assists, he is tied with Arsenal legend Thierry Henry and former Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne. A single more assist in United's final match would place him alone at the top of this historic chart.

His impact extends beyond goal contributions. Fernandes has also created an impressive 132 chances this season, the most in the Premier League and significantly more than any other player. This tally surpasses David Beckham's previous record for Manchester United's top creator. Earlier this year, Fernandes was also voted Footballer of the Year by England's football writers and has matched Cristiano Ronaldo's record for Player of the Month awards.
